"Prey"

The animal kingdom is divided into two main groups: hunters and prey. Hunters work alone or sometimes in packs to track and kill other animals for food. The animals that are caught, killed and eaten as food are the prey.

Now let’s switch from the animal kingdom to humanity and look in terms of hunter and prey from a biblical perspective.

Jesus warned us in John 10:10 that Satan walks the Earth seeing whom he can kill, steal and destroy.

If we were to make an analogy it would read; Satan is to hunter as Christians are to prey. If we then are prey, this means we are too weak or too slow to get away from the hunter and therefore will end up being devoured. Alone we are weak but if we apply Philippians 4:13 (I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.) then with the help of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we can become strong and hold off the attacks of the evil one, Satan.

In order not to become the “prey “of the hunter, the bible tells us to do the following:

  • Pray without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17 )
  • Stay focused on God (Matthew 14:29-31 showed this: And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.  But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?)
  • Arm ourselves with God’s Word explained in Ephesians 6: 13 (Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. And continued in Ephesians 6: 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God)   So if we apply these biblical concepts, no matter what attack the enemy makes on us, we will come through it victoriously.

Blessings!
