Appreciation

Appreciation – a 12 lettered word that is a synonym for thanks and grateful.  According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, it means a feeling or expression of admiration, approval or gratitude. There are many Psalms that speak about appreciating/giving thanks to the Lord.  Psalm 100:4 states to “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. “ Psalms 118:29 and 136:1 say; “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever. “

For many people on November 22nd they thought about the word thanks/appreciation when sitting around a dinner table with family and friends about to devour a fowl that is the cousin to the chicken. For others it was a feeling of being happy to not have to rush to work or being able to visit loved ones who live a long distance away from them. All of these things are nice and are positive in nature, but in addition to these things, one thing surpasses them all – for Christians it is the expressing of thankfulness to a faithful loving God who spared nothing (not even His son Jesus) to show us His love for us.

So as Thanksgiving memories flood our minds as we continue in this season of Advent, let us keep the attitude of gratitude about what God has done for us in our hearts.

Be thankful!
