Heat

During the summer months of July and August the temperatures can soar into the 3-digits or at least the heat index makes it feel so. We are reminded about the dangers of the heat such as: dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and cardiac arrest which can lead to death. Doctors advise us to drink more water, wear light colored, loose-fitting clothing and stay in air-conditioned buildings during temperature peak times around mid-day.
As uncomfortable as the intense heat of summer may be, we know that as time passes the season will change, the temperatures will decrease and relief will come.  However there is another kind of heat that we should be mindful of that will not end and that heat is the heat of hell. Mark Chapter 9 verses 43, 44, and 45 and Matthew Chapter 10 verse 28th speak specifically about hell:
Mark 9:43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Mark 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mark 9:45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
As Christians we believe that those who don’t accept Christ as their savior and repent for their sins don’t have the same hope that we do to escape the fiery pit of hell for eternity.  So, when the opportunity presents itself, tell someone about Jesus.   Remind people that the oppressive uncomfortable heat that they experience over the summer just might be a preview of things to come if they so choose a life without Christ.
Stay cool!  Blessings.
