MLK DAY 2016.  The second holiday of the new year.  A day set aside to remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. minister, civil rights leader, Nobel Peace Prize recipient, husband, father and son.

I just wanted to take a minute to draw your attention to some similarities between Dr. King’s life and Jesus Christ’s life.

• Both were preachers/teachers
• Both had relatively short ministries
• Their ministries shaped the mores of the Christian faith and still impact people today
• Both preached about and lived a life of service to others
• Both preached about the power of love and non-violence when combating hate
• Both were hated and executed at a relatively young age
• Both lived their life and lead others by example

I offer a challenge to all who are reading this blog to try to live your “walk” everyday like Dr. King and Jesus.

John 15:13 says, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
