Peace. A five-letter word that many are looking for, but which few find. In the natural, it refers to a period of time of not being at war. Today, it is rare to find a place on the planet where someone isn’t fighting about something at some time -whether it be over a piece of land, a parking space, a position, or a relationship.
From a spiritual perspective as Christians, we understand that it can also mean to have our spirits be in harmony with our lives and the world around us. This is the kind of peace that Jesus talked about in John 14:27 when He said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
So how do we do this in the midst of terrorist attacks, turmoil in the home, and general unrest in our communities? Isaiah 26:3 tells us, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Plainly put, if we focus on God and the things of God and put our hope and faith in Him for every aspect of our existence, then we will finally be able to have that illusive thing which we long for – peace.
May God give you His peace.
Blessings!
