Spring is the time for rebirth and renewal. Plant seedlings are beginning to sprout, buds on tree branches are becoming visible, birds are feverishly building nests to lay eggs in and animals are coming out of hibernation having young.
Biblically, since Easter was last month, Christians are reminded by Christ’s resurrection, that they too can have new life in heaven after their physical earthly life is over.
I recently participated in a Christian Conference given by New Broken Vessels Ministry of Maryland whose conference theme was Romans 12:1-2. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Two words jumped out at me after reading and praying about these scriptures.
The words transform and renew.
Transform – means to change something from its original state to another state.
Renew – The prefix “re” means to do again. New – something that is just beginning.
So, if we are to change our minds from our old way of thinking by starting over, then that begins with our making a choice. You can’t have change without making a choice to live, act and do things differently. In our case as Christians, after hearing the “truth” of the gospel of Jesus Christ and accepting Him as our Lord and savior we are convicted to make choices and therefore change how we think, and what we do with our bodies.
As the world around us welcomes the “newness”of spring, let us daily renew our minds so that we too can be transformed into the beautiful artwork of God’s kingdom.
Blessings!
