March - the third month of the year, the month when spring begins, and the month when St. Patrick's Day is celebrated with people wearing green outfits with shamrock decorations. However, there is one more thing to be remembered, it's also Women's History Month!
Women have been the backbone and have contributed to the rise and maintenance of many societies in various era's of world history. Some famous women who made major contributions in world history were:
Aviators, Bessie Coleman the first female pilot of African American descent and Amelia Earhart the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
Educator Mary McLeod Bethune.
Nurses, Clara Barton founder of the American Red Cross and Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing & manager of nurses trained by her during the Crimean War.
Astronauts, Sally Kristen Ride the first American woman in space in 1983 and Mae Jemison the first African American woman to travel in space on September 12, 1992.
Then of course in the Bible a woman who made a major contribution to her race was Esther who married King Ahasuerus and saved her people.
So take some time during this month and read and learn about famous women from the bible and in the world and appreciate the accomplishments of the gender that God created to “help men.”
We are leaders in our own right.
